Mr. Mehrdad Dezyanian
Mehrdad is the Founder and CEO of Dezy Market. Mehrdad has Bachelor’s degree in Persian Farsi literature from Excelsior College in Albany, NY, as well as a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Golden Gate University in San Francisco, CA. He is a native of Iran, a United States citizen, and a United States Army disabled veteran who is fluent in Persian (both Iranian and Afghan dialects), English, and spoken Tadjik/Tajik. He was chosen as one of 85 American soldiers to march in the 2010 Moscow Victory Day Parade to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the Allies’ victory.
Prior to his arrival in the US, Mehrdad’s work as an Embassy Liaison for the Swiss Embassy US Interest Section in Tehran allowed him to cultivate a comprehensive knowledge of intelligence laws, regulations, and policies. It also gave him a front-row seat to international developments affecting the United States, Iran, and Afghanistan. He worked for the Department of Defense at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, CA and has held various positions throughout the organization’s Persian-Farsi School. He was Faculty Advisory Council President of the Persian-Farsi School, where he advocated for the right to locality pay for employees of the Defense Language Institute (DLI) in Monterey, CA, resulting in a 20% pay increase for 1,700 workers. Dezy received a Certificate of Appreciation from the president of DLI’s union (AFGE Local 1263) for his two-year effort.
